Introduction To Edge Banding

PVC edge banding is primarily composed of polyvinyl chloride and is manufactured through processes such as compounding, calendering, and vacuum forming. These products are widely used in furniture, office settings, kitchenware, educational equipment, and laboratories. They are available in thicknesses ranging from 0.3 mm to 3 mm and widths from 12 mm to 80 mm. Key features include a smooth surface free of blisters or streaks, moderate gloss, flat surfaces on both sides, uniform thickness and width, optimal hardness, high elasticity, and excellent wear resistance. After trimming, the color of the edge matches the surface color without whitening, ensuring a harmonious overall appearance for the finished furniture.

 

The primary function of edge banding is to seal the exposed edges of the board, protecting the material from environmental damage and wear-particularly from moisture-and preventing the release of formaldehyde from within the board, while also providing an aesthetically pleasing finish.
