Common Problems Avoidance and Process Key Points · Improving Edge Banding Yield

Problem 1: Bubbling at the Edges After Banding: This is prone to occur when MDF density is uneven. The solution is to use edge banding strips with uniform thickness (tolerance ≤ ±0.03mm) and appropriately increase the preheating temperature of the edge banding machine.
Problem 2: Whitening at the Edges After Trimming: Higher environmental protection level, odorless and non-toxic, suitable for export orders and customers with high quality requirements.
Problem 3: Obvious Adhesive Lines Affect Aesthetics: MDF cut surfaces have strong adhesive absorption. It is recommended to use hot melt adhesive with a color similar to that of the board/edge banding strip. Alternatively, laser edge banding can be used to achieve zero glue lines.
Problem 4: Insufficient heat resistance of dark-colored edge banding strips: High temperatures are required for MDF edge banding; ABS or PET materials are recommended for dark-colored edge banding strips, as their heat resistance is superior to PVC.
Problem 5: Color difference between edge banding strip and board surface: MDF facing paper comes in various colors; it is recommended to request an edge banding strip color swatch before bulk purchase and compare it with the actual board for confirmation.
Process suggestions: Before edge banding MDF, it is recommended to sand the edges to remove burrs; after edge banding, use a special polishing wax to improve edge roundness and gloss.
